Project: Magen David Yeshivah Project
Location: 2130 McDonald Avenue, Brooklyn Services Performed: Project Manager Architect: Gruzen Samton The seven-story building accommodates 1,600 1st to 8th grade students and includes a synagogue and multipurpose auditorium, as well as a cafeteria, gymnasium, libraries, science and art facilities, and a Beit Midrash. The latter serves the dual purpose of study room and religious space. A two-story lobby permits a significant amount of natural light to filter through a spacious skylight. The site presented uniquely urban challenges for the design team, for the new school is situated next to an elevated subway station on McDonald Avenue and across the street from a park. |
