The Brooklyn Children's Museum was the world's first children's museum, and now also holds the title as the world's first "green", sustainably-designed, children's museum.

SHA was the main liaison on behalf of the museum between the design and construction teams and the City of New York. This project was carried out using a public/private initiative, and was successfully completed while the museum stayed fully functional, other than a short period when tie-ins between new and old construction needed to be made.

This project received a Silver LEED certification from the USBGC.
