Séamus comes from a long line of builders, where he first developed his love for the field by learning from his grandfather and father over many years. After graduating from college he worked for Henchy Construction Ltd, Jacobs International and George A. Fuller Company, where he developed and honed his skills working on a broad range of projects ranging from residential to large-scale public works projects. Séamus went on to found the firm in 1986, with the purpose of providing project management support to owners as they embark on their projects.
As the Principal in Charge, Séamus brings a sophisticated blend of knowledge which comes from over 40 years of experience managing a wide range of design and construction projects on behalf of cultural institutions, independent schools and libraries, public spaces, museums, government landmarks, corporate entities, residential, hospitality, religious and large-scale infrastructure projects. He is one of the most highly respected professionals in the industry today, with a long list of high-profile satisfied clients, and a reputation of having a unique team building ability, which allows him to work very well with a wide range of design teams and owners with ease. Séamus has built his firm on the solid foundation of integrity and honesty in all aspects of his work.
Séamus has experience in North America, Europe, and Asia, giving him a uniquely cosmopolitan point of view which enables him to successfully oversee SHA's projects from the early feasibility phase through the post-occupancy phase. He has ultimate operational responsibility for Séamus Henchy and Associates' work, and provides executive direction to all project teams throughout the lifespan of each project SHA works on.
