Project: Plant Studies Center / Library and Herbarium
Location: Bronx, New York
Services Performed: Project Manager
Architect: Polshek Partnership
This project entailed the design and construction of a state of the art collections building to house the Botanical Garden’s world-renowned botanical science collections, both books and the Western Hemisphere's largest herbarium. Highly sensitive environmental control is vital to the collections' ongoing preservation. The project was built while the existing adjoining buildings were fully operational and occupied and while the Garden continued to function normally on a daily basis. The project required phasing to allow for the move of the collections.
The project was carried out using a public/private initiative.
